This is the small flowerbed that's at the left of our front door. We planted the same disanthus here that is in the large flowerbed. Also planted another one of my favorites, sweet potato vine. Simply love the stuff...

Our front porch pots with petunias large and small and tall grass. This is the first year I have planted petunias and surprisingly love them. They are super hardy and bloom very well.

Flowerbeds continued...

Ryan planted inpatients and ferns in the shady area of the flowerbed. Every year inpatients tempt me with their beautiful color and by end of summer I am sick of them because they need attention. The yellow and green plants are ginger, love them and they are seen everywhere in SA. They do well in sun or shade which is great for our flowerbed where part is sun and part is shade.

It is really hard to tell in this picture but the plants to the right are disanthus. Not sure on that spelling...
They have a bright red flower when they bloom and grow to a shrub. Mom said that Mamaw (my great grandmother) had them all over her yard. I remember her HUGE hydrangeas... There are also purple growing moss in the front and purple onion plant in the back. I have seen the purple onion plant around town and have always wanted to add it to our yard. I still need to get a sun loving plant for right in front of the ginger but haven't found the perfect thing yet...

New flowerbeds

This weekend we worked on one of the flowerbeds in the front of our house. I also replanted all of our pots and everything is ready for spring! Picture above is our cart at Milbergers Nursery...I love that place! A man who was shopping there asked me if we carried veggies, guess I looked the part :)

This is our side porch coming from the garage that Ryan and i use. The pots on the steps get a lot of sun but the area around the white chairs is pretty much shade. In the shady area I chose begonias, cyclamen and maiden hair fern...my favorite.
