Coastal Fishing

I spent the weekend fishing the flats for reds and specks with two new friends on a catamaran. We headed out on Friday afternoon and sailed the afternoon to Mud Island where we spent the evening fishing . We slept out on the deck of the boat in the cool breeze that came off the bay - suprisingly pleasent this time of year.

4th of July

The beautiful beach....
Ryan relaxing and drafting...

Idea House details

Gotta love this chair in the living room, have always wondered what to do with these types of end tables??
Barn door leading into second master suite's bathroom. Ryan has always loved barn doors as have I but when you mention them to other people it is a little hard to visualize. Hope to have one in the next house! : )

Master suite bathroom, what's not to love about that? The fabric drapes cover windows leading into the bathroom, two doors on the ends...

Guest Bathroom, check out the end tables...from wisteria.com

Ryan in Master shower...cheesing it up

Master Bathroom

End table in Master suite, again from Wisteria.

Master suite

And so we begin the description....
Kitchen, amazing with big open feel into the living room. You all know how much I've gotta have open spaces. The countertop was solid slab, Cabrera marble. The back splash is something I would like to do in our next house. It is aged mirror, awesome in person!
Living Room: light and bright. Love the use of bright colors...turquoise, corals, limes and bright yelllows. Gotta pass on the white couch, way to hard to keep clean.

Dining room "booth"
I have always wanted a booth next to the kitchen. I think booths are so comfy and can see myself relaxed there having breakfast. Take note of the pillows, great fabric.

Walking up to the house the "garage" is open air. Above (on the ceiling) is where you can store the kayaks.

Southern Living Idea House 2009

Last week I received my much anticipated new issue of Southern Living. Inside it had an ad on the new Texas idea house in Port Aransas. Every year I try to make it to the idea house just to see Southern Living ideas in person. The house was in Fort Worth last year and I was really was not impressed. The house was very "Victorian" and did not fit my style.

The recent monthly issues of Southern Living have not been up to their usual greatness. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that the editor from the now retired magazine Cottage Living is in charge? When Cottage Living first started out Ryan and I both loved every page. Then the magazine started to take a down turn and eventually went out of print.

Anyway, moving on....
Friday Ryan asked what I wanted to do for the 4th of July and I thought, hey why not??? Let's go to Port Aransas! Saturday morning we got up early and headed to the beach.

The Idea House was without a doubt one of my favorite home tours EVER! I really enjoyed every room and want to replicate everything!!! I will post a lot of pictures here however for all the pics click here: http://picasaweb.google.com/jones0225/SouthernLivingIdeaHouse?feat=directlink

The home will be showcased in the next issue (August) with a 15 page layout. Their pictures I am sure will be better but at least now you get a "sneak peak"

New Members of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church

Ryan and I have been attending the local Methodist Church for quite a while now. We decided it was finally time to join and have been attending new membership classes. Last Sunday we were inducted as new members.

Get ready for a ton of posts!
