Cardinals are NL Champs!

The AHLL Cardinals beat the only team they had not beaten in the National League yesterday afternoon to claim the National League title. It was won with sweat and guts on a sweldering Texas afternoon and the final score was 12-5. The Astros chose not to even take the field with 4 minutes left in the game. The Cardinals and the heat had gotten the most of them and were more then they could handle.

The Cardinals will play a best of three series against the Indians this coming week to determine who claims the title AHLL World Series Champs! Games are on Friday, Monday, and Wednesday (If Necessary) at 5:30 in the afternoon.

By winning last night the Cardinals also qualified for the citywide tournament to be played the week of June 8th-12th.

Cardinals WIN on walkoff Triple

In the last inning of a very tight and well played baseball game, pitcher, Aaron Santos managed to get the 10 year old phenom Nathaniel Prete out on a short fly ball to 2B, limiting the damage that would be done in the inning to 3 runs. The Cardinals hit the dugout down by one in the bottom of the 4th, 7-6. Will Cooper started the inning off with a double that one hopped the fence in right center. Brandt Basso followed up with a walk, and put the go ahead run on 1st base with the top of the line-up coming up for the Cardinals with no outs. Trey Landsdale hit a solid double into left center field tying the ball game and putting the go ahead run on 3B with no outs. Aaron Santos stepped to the plate with revenge for the Giants 3 run inning on his mind. After putting himself in an 0-2 hole, Aaron stroked a walk off triple down the left field line.
.
CARDINALS WIN, CARDINALS WIN, CARDINALS WIN!!!!!!!!
.
The National League Championship game will be a grudge match between the Cardinals and Astros on Tuesday, May 26th at 5:30. I promise it will be another nail biting game for the ages.

I will be channeling Pujols voodoo for the next week, so my beloved Houston Astros will have to forgive me.

Thanks Retama - We Will Miss You!!!

Jennifer and I have negotiated an offer for our current home at 234 Retama Place. As many of you know we have had the house on the market for 8 months and have been in no rush to move out. We have been waiting for the right person to come along, and that person is a single Captain in the Air Force who is transfering to Fort Sam Houston from Alexandria, Virginia.

Jennifer and I are still working through the emotions of leaving such a wonderful home, but we are excited about what lies ahead!

AHLL Cardinals Take Out #1

The AHLL Cardinals showed the number one team in the league, the Dodgers, that it's not how you start a season, or a game ... its how you finish. Down 5-0 in the first inning the cards came in and swung the bats furiously earning 4 runs back. Relief Pitcher Hudson Basso took the mound in the second inning and walked the first three batters, on long counts, to put runners on all 3 bags with no outs. Coach Jones was panicking a little, and brought in Casey Conner to get the team out of the jamb. Casey proceeded to strike the first batter out and then go 3-2 to the next hitter. After fouling the next two pitches off, the hitter stroked a hard hit line drive to center where a diving Hudson Basso caught what looked to be a definite inside the park grand slam. Popping back up Basso was in such shock that he didn't even recognize that the player that was on third base was already walking back to the dugout after crossing home plate for what he thought was a run. The cardinals continued to escape the bases loaded/no out situation, and only gave up one run in the process. With the bottom of the line-up prepared to bat, the last two hitters (Drew Yockey and West Winter) proceeded to get their 1st hits of the year putting men on base for the top of the line-up to drive in. The Cardinals continued to keep the pressure on the Dodgers throughout the game and never let go - giving their team a 10-6 lead in the fourth inning when Aaron Santos, the Cardinals closer, came in to end the game. Aaron allowed 1 walk and no hits to finish the game in timely fashion at 10-6.

After losing to the Cubs, the Cardinals have gone 2-0-1 against the top three teams in the league. The one tie came in a game against the #2 team in the league; a game where the cardinals were up 6-4 going into the last inning but made 3 costly errors to allow 2 runs.
